Partagas cigars are known for their rich taste thanks to the wrapper leaves that are grown in Cameroon (Africa), with the climate allowing for perfect harvesting conditions. In fact, Cameroon wrappers are second to none in the production of cigarettes. The brand was founded in 1845 by a man named Don Jaime Partagas and was later developed by Ramon Cifuentes and his son. Having fled Cuba after the revolution Ramon Cifuentes had to find an alternative to the wrapper leaves from Cuba - so the Cameroon leaves that are now typical of this brand were discovered almost by accident when the cigar master had to find another source because of the embargo. This time the production was organized in the Dominican Republic, although the brand continued to be also produced in Cuba after the industry has been nationalized. Ramon Cifuentes junior was later succeeded on his throne by Daniel Nuñez, who introduced a number of innovations to the company and came up with a very successful Partagas Black Label brand version that was very dark and rich in flavor, which is why it was dubbed «an espresso of a cigar». The very latest addition to the family of cigars is Partagas Spanish Rosado.
